Each year, more than 10,000 babies are born deaf in the United States. The cause of congenital hearing loss is often unknown. Other babies and young children will lose their hearing due to an illness such as meningitis or an injury. The lives of these families are immediately turned upside down. Parents are forced to go through a traumatic transition from the hearing world into the deaf world, seeking the best options and resources for their child. Dozens of tests and procedures follow, and these are often not covered by insurance. In a matter of weeks, parents are often emotionally and financially depleted.
The nature and intensity of our focused curriculum and our low student-to-staffing ratio is reflected in our program costs. While families are asked to participate financially on a sliding scale according to their income, scholarship opportunities are available through the school's Board of Directors. These scholarships are made possible through generous individuals, companies and foundations. We invite you to contribute to the success of these bright young children. Together we can unlock the potential for deaf and hard of hearing children in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Please feel free to contact us for additional information.
The Dallas Foundation of Otology sponsors our annual Children's Classic Golf Tournament. The next tournament will be on June 4, 2012 at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, TX
