The Hearing School of the Southwest is a highly specialized preschool for children birth to six years old with hearing loss who are using hearing aids or cochlear implants. Children with a primary diagnosis of hearing loss and who are competent learners will be considered for enrollment. Each student and family will be considered on their own individual merits for admission.
The nature and intensity of our focused curriculum and our low student to staffing ratio is reflected in our tuition cost. Families who cannot meet the cost of tuition will be asked to participate financially on a sliding scale according to their income. Scholarship opportunities are available through The Hearing School of the Southwest Board of Directors.
Each family is expected to participate daily in the growth of their child’s language. Daily communication from the staff to the parent will outline what can be done by the family to further the experiences of the school day. Communication from the family to the staff is critical to further establish the child’s needs and direction of his individualized curriculum at school. Weekly direct communication via telephone or parent – teacher meetings at school will be expected.
